Who We Are
OUR L.A. is a non-profit 501c3, women-led and minority-owned production company using the power of storytelling and educational projects to advance equity, inclusivity, and community. Founded by award-winning filmmakers Lyn Goldfarb and Alison Sotomayor, OUR L.A. celebrates the transformational power of film and media. Our mission is to increase public awareness of the rich tapestry of stories and diverse people of Los Angeles, and other cities, both historical and contemporary, through audiovisual and new media projects, education, preservation, and community outreach.

BRIDGING THE DIVIDE: TOM BRADLEY AND THE POLITICS OF RACE
A powerful documentary about Los Angeles’ first Black mayor, whose historic election and visionary leadership transformed a divided city, reshaped its politics, and inspired a new era in the American story of race.
Broadcast on PBS on 311 PBS stations, reaching 96% of the top 25 U.S. markets. 50+ community screenings and extensive press coverage.
BRIDGING THE DIVIDE: TOM BRADLEY AND THE POLITICS OF RACE
Created for high school classrooms nationwide, Tom Bradley’s Impossible Dream explores the remarkable life of Los Angeles’ first Black mayor, tracing his path from LAPD officer to a transformative leader who united a divided city and changed the landscape of American politics. We provided 150 free DVDs to the LAUSD, created three teacher training workshops, and designed a Common Core curriculum for high schools.
EDDY’S WORLD
Eddy’s World tells the entertaining story of Eddy Goldfarb, a 98-year-old toy inventor best known for the iconic Yakity-Yak Teeth and 800 classic toys. Optimistic and curious, Eddy is an endearing storyteller who brings us into his world of ideas and perspectives on aging. Celebrated in 40+ film festivals. Featured on NewYorker.com, broadcast on PBS.
MAYOR TOM BRADLEY INTERGENERATIONAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT AND VIDEO TRAINING PROGRAM
In partnership with the City of L.A. Workforce Development Board, Los Angeles Urban League and CDTech, we created this innovative program Program to teach African American and Latino 12th-grade high school students video production, storytelling, interviewing and research skills. The project used examples from Bradley’s life and work to teach students about leadership, overcoming obstacles, and long-term relationship and coalition building. Students produced short films (2-3 minutes) on Bradley and created blogs about their experiences. (2012)
REIMAGINING BRIDGING THE DIVIDE: TOM BRADLEY AND THE POLITICS OF RACE: A YOUTH FILM POETRY WORKSHOP
Working with Get Lit, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit celebrating the power of spoken word poetry for young people, OUR L.A. designed a three-day workshop (2025) for high school students to create original short poetry films built on the legacy and lessons of Tom Bradley. Funded by the California Arts Council, this project encouraged youthful artistic expression and historical awareness.
